The rivet set allows you to tighten the assembly onto the rivet before riveting with the hammer.
After drilling the pieces, they are assembled onto the rivet. Then, the head of the rivet is placed against an anvil, for example, and the rivet set is positioned on the rivet stem before striking to tighten the assembly.
